Infinity Walk
|
Infinity Walk has been used in special education since the mid-1980’s. The 1991 publication of Infinity Walk: Preparing Your Mind to Learn immediately spread this useful method beyond the US to many other countries. Schools in countries that have fewer resources than in the US for special needs students have used the method as a significant resource for 15 years. Generous American education professionals with a international social consciousnesses quickly shared news of the first Infinity Walk book, or purchased gift books to be sent to educators in other countries. The greater the need, the more the generosity; as when an entire box of 1991 Infinity Walk books was purchased by a Florida retired professional and drop-shipped to a teacher in South Africa. In the United States, our occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech therapists are the health care professionals who provide the one-on-one school-based services that would include Infinity Walk. To clarify the Infinity Walk method further for these health care professionals, Dr. Sunbeck wrote The Complete Infinity Walk: BOOK1 The Physical Self, and developed the following professional development curriculum for health care professionals working in schools. Treating Disorders with Sensorimotor, Cognitive and Psychosocial Components Using Best-Use Practices of the Infinity Walk Method Special education and regular education teachers who are interested in using Infinity Walk more specifically for attention, motivation, modulation, and developing good learning and study skills may prefer this workshop: Infinity Walk: Preparing Your Mind to Learn – A Behavioral-Motor Developmental Application of Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory. |
